Alexandria Laine Meekcoms

Alexandria Laine Meekcoms died April 29, 2007 in a plane crash off the coast of Carlsbad, Calif. She was born Sept. 14, 1981, in Portland, Ore.

Meekcoms was a 2003 Arizona State University graduate, and taught English and coached club and school volleyball teams, at both Mountain Pointe and Bashas' high schools.

She is survived by her father, Raoul Meekcoms; stepmother, Sandra Meekcoms; grandparents, Jake and Chella Kryszek; sister, Nichole Burgan; the love of her life, Hunter Walden, formerly of Payson; and many other family members and dear friends.

To pay tribute to Meekcoms' love of volleyball, a scholarship fund has been established, and donations can be made to the "Alexandria Laine Meekcoms Memorial Volleyball Scholarship Fund" c/o Chase Bank, 3616 E. Ray Road, Phoenix, AZ 85044.

A celebration of Meekcoms' life will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, May 11, at The Mountain Preserve, 1431 E. Dunlap Avenue, Phoenix, Ariz. 85020.

She was interred at the Beth Israel Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Sunday, May 6.
