The Christopher Creek Homeowners Association is looking for more homeowners to join the organization. It only costs $15 a year and they provide a lot of wonderful things for the community.

Some of the ongoing activities of the organization are: Fall and spring cleanups to allow residents to deposit their bagged yard debris in a county dumpster delivered to the community, the annual decorating of the highway at Christmas time to enhance the community, the sponsoring and organizing of the annual Easter egg hunt in the forest for the children of Christopher Creek, the sponsoring and organizing of the annual Halloween party and trick-or-treat hayride for the local ghost and goblins, sponsoring and organizing the annual Christmas party, the arrival of Santa, gift food boxes, and let's not forget the impressive Christmas caroling hayride through the community.

There are two membership meetings a year, generally on the last Saturday of May and October. They sponsor a communitywide, house-decorating contest for Halloween and Christmas. And they publish an informative newsletter designed to keep members up-to-date on upcoming events and issues and all of this is only $15 a year.

If you live in the fire district, you can belong. The group's next meeting is scheduled for May 27 at 2 p.m. at the fire hall. Show up and get involved in this association that has no covenants, conditions and restrictions. They just do a lot of wonderful things for the community.

Update on the fuel break fund

All of the homeowners associations are working hard to raise money for the Christopher Creek firebreak. They are encouraging their members to donate more money individually. Fliers have just recently gone out in The Brooks, C-Canyon and Hunter Creek and they are hoping for a large amount of money to come in. CCHA has about 54 owners who are donating some $16,000, but that is not enough. They need to reach $50,000.

Memorial Day weekend is filled with activates to help raise money. They are encouraging everyone to come out and help in any way they can. The raffle and silent auction have gathered some wonderful items to win and bid on. One hot item is two courtside tickets, second row, to a Suns game next season. The winner gets to pick the game.

If you have something you want to donate, give Karen Thornton a call at (928) 478-4133. Don't forget to write your check and give to the president of your association, or you can mail it to CCHA, HC2 Box 121-P, Payson, AZ 85541.

Thanks to all of you have contributed so far. Any amount you can donate is truly appreciated.

Mother's Day

Don't forget, this Sunday is Mother's Day. Send your mother a card or, better yet, make one and give it to her. Mothers are special breed and they deserve to be remembered.

I want to wish my mother a special Mother's Day. She lives 3,000 miles away, but can read my column on the Internet. Over the years, she has always been there for me. When I need help, she puts me on the prayer chain. When the Lord made my mother, she was the mold for all good mothers.

She is not just my mother, she is my best friend and I want to be just like her when I grow up.

If you haven't talked your mother in a while, pick up the phone and surprise her this Sunday. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the world.
