Town Needs Design Board Applicants

Payson's newly established Design Review Board has seven vacant seats to fill.

Town Manager Fred Carpenter said applications are now being accepted to fill the spots on the volunteer board. Carpenter wants to encourage all members of the community to submit applications.

Applications can be picked up at the front desk at Town Hall and are due no later than May 29, Carpenter said.

The town council is expected to appoint the board at its meeting on June 7.

Carpenter said there is room for lay people on the board. Not all volunteers need to have previous design or architectural experience.

The board will be responsible for reviewing the appearance of new developments and signage in the town and for making recommendations to the council.

At least four members of the board must have a background in construction, architecture, real estate or other related fields.

Two members of the board can be residents of communities outside of Payson, but they must still own property or a business in Payson to be eligible.
