California Man Dies In Highway 260 Accident

A 77-year-old man from California died in a head-on collision Mother's Day.

The accident occurred near the turn-off to the R-Bar-C Boy Scout Ranch, according to Doc Dimbat, investigating officer for the Department of Public Safety.

Dimbat said the accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The California man, the sole occupant in the vehicle, was westbound and crossed over the double yellow line, hitting the oncoming eastbound vehicle head-on.

There were three people in the other vehicle, Dimbat said. The driver was from Gilbert and the passengers were from Christopher Creek. All sustained injuries and were transported to Phoenix area hospitals.

No charges were filed and alcohol was not a factor, Dimbat said.
