Kids Fishing Festival Will Become Annual Event

On behalf of the children, parents and young adults who participated in the Kids Fishing Festival, the Rim Country Optimist Club would like to say "thank you."

Thank you for the support from our local businesses -- those who donated prizes or money towards this fun-filled event. A special thanks to the parents and friends who brought the kids to fish and have a great time.

We had 274 who registered to fish. Of those 274, 194 were 14 years old and younger, eight were 15 to 20 years old and 72 were over 20 years of age. The youngest was 1 and the oldest was 67.

This day was made possible with the combined help of the Payson Parks and Recreation Department, Payson Community Christian School, Arizona Game and Fish, KCMA and the many volunteers who helped us with this a very special day for the kids. Their support helped us to bring smiles to the many kids who possibly caught their first fish ever.

We are planning to make this an annual event. So, watch for our announcement of our Second Annual Kids Fishing Festival in 2008.
