Evacuated Residents Have Returned Home

With the Promontory Fire now 90 percent contained, fire officials feel it is safe to lift the evacuation notice for residents of See Canyon, the Brooks subdivision and the Mountain Meadows Bible Camp.

Residents of these areas were allowed to return to their homes on Sunday.

Firefighters have worked diligently to build and secure containment lines around the evacuated area.

The fire hose set in and around the subdivisions will remain in place until the fire is fully contained.

Firefighters continue working on the southeastern side of the fire to improve and secure the remainder of the fire line.

Firefighters will continue to mop up and monitor the rest of the fire area.

For security reasons, no one will be allowed entry without proof of ownership or residency in the evacuated area. Please have appropriate paperwork and identification for this purpose.

For additional information regarding re-entry into evacuated area, contact the Gila County Sheriff's Office at (928) 474-2208.
