Payson's newly established Affordable Housing Commission held its inaugural meeting Wednesday.
The volunteer commission, whose task it is to find a solution to the town's increasing disparity between income and housing costs, will likely meet once a month.
The commission reviewed its duties, as outlined by the affordable housing guidelines and discussed future agenda items and tasks.
The commission will choose a chair and vice-chair at its next meeting, June 7.
The town council voted unanimously to create the committee on Feb. 15 and approve the appointment of its members on April 19.
Members of the commission include Kevin Alderson, David Coombes, Rick Croy, Mike Foil, Bruce Hopkins, Michael Hughes and Cliff Potts.
Potts said his goal for the commission is to improve and clarify housing difficulties for residents.
"One thing that frustrates me is that there is no one place people can go to get a solution to their housing needs," he said. "There are a lot of resources, but no single point of reference for people to go. I'm hoping we can pull that together.
"That's one thing I'd like to see."
