Daughters Of The American Revolution Visit Schoolhouse

Mary Hunt, local historian and lover of the Strawberry Schoolhouse, shares some history with visiting Daughters of the American Revolution members.

Visiting dignitaries attending a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Convention in Phoenix, were delighted to see the DAR memorial at the old schoolhouse in Strawberry.

State regents were here from Mississippi, Indiana, Florida, Colorado, Illinois and California. DAR is a women's service organization with 160,000 members throughout the world.

Their focus is on education, historic preservation and patriotic endeavors. DAR owns one full city block in Washington, D.C., including Constitution Hall.

Many television shows film segments in Constitution Hall, including "Law and Order." One of their projects is to get a picture of George Washington back in every classroom.
