A round table discussion with the five finalists for the police chief position will take place at 5:45 p.m. Thursday at Frontier Elementary School.

Town Manager Fred Carpenter said he wants community members to know he will factor public opinion into his selection of the new police chief.

The five finalists are William Baker from Maine, Michael Cline, Sherwood Eldredge, Don Engler and Gregg Jacquin, all from Arizona.

Carpenter is expected to announce who the new chief will be by Friday afternoon, after he meets individually with each finalist Friday morning for an interview.

Carpenter said he wants as many members of the public as possible to attend.

"It's important to get a good turnout," he said.

Community members will be divided among five rooms at FES and finalists will visit each room to host a brief discussion and answer questions.

Afterward, community members can rate each candidate. The scorecards will be given to Carpenter to consider in his selection.
