Audrey Mary Sobisek


Audrey Mary Sobisek, 82, of Payson, died Saturday, May 26, 2007. She was the wife of Arthur E. Sobisek, who preceded her in death Feb. 24, 1990, in Bohemia, N.Y.

Born in Morenci, Ariz. Nov. 9, 1924, she was the daughter of Oscar and Margaret Lindquist. Upon the death of her father, her mother returned to Central Islip, N.Y.

Mrs. Sobisek was employed at Northrup Grumman for many years. She was an avid golfer and bowler. She loved traveling to Arizona and in Oct. 1991, she purchased her home in Payson.

She is survived by two brothers, Howard Lindquist of Durham, N.C. and Vinton Lindquist of Williamsville, N.Y.

She is also survived by nieces Audrey Woodhouse of Guilford, Conn.; Joan Rose of Frederick, Md.; Alison Miller of Hancock, Wis.; Gail Kellner of Calverton, N.Y.; Peggy Waite of Williamsville, N.Y.; Deborah Whatley of Blountsville, Ala.; Jane Sperzel of South Cairo, N.Y.; Nancy Ferzola of Sugar Hill, Ga.; Sally White of Hampton, Va.; Carol Busch of Islip, N.Y.; and Susan Markgraf of Oakdale, N.Y.

Also surviving are nephews Wayne Lindquist of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Robert Lindquist of Pensacola, Fla.; Gary Lindquist of Enfield, Conn.; William Lindquist of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Kevin Lindquist of Louisville, N.C.; Edward Lindquist of New York, N.Y.; James Lindquist of Pfafftown, N.C.; Clifford Lindquist of Massapequa, N.Y.; Michael Lindquist of Largo, Fla.; and Alan Wild of Boston, Mass.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivian Wild and Margaret Piehler and four brothers, Robert Lindquist, Oscar Lindquist, Francis Lindquist and Donald Lindquist.

Services were at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
