John Richard Kelly, D.D.S., 79, of Phoenix, died Nov. 7, 2007 at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital from complications of cancer.
He was born in Bisbee, Arizona on Oct. 26, 1928 to Benjamin and Beatrice Kelly.
He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1952 where he was a Sigma Chi and quarterback of the football team. He went on to dental school at Loyola University in Chicago where he met the love of his life and future wife of over 50 years, Cynthia.
Mr. Kelly practiced dentistry in both Phoenix and Payson, Ariz. for more than 50 years and was loved for his gentle nature and chair side humor.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his children, Brian (Donna), Steve, Tim and Sara (Dave); his sister Edie and her husband Shelton Marlow; his grandchildren, Nathan, Benjamin, Leah, Laura, Nolan, Noelle and Jon-Luc; and his nieces and nephews, Shawn, Linda and Kelly.
Funeral services will include a visitation at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, with a Scripture Service at 4 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 12.
