Big Brothers Big Sisters Honors

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Rim Country recently recognized the outstanding volunteers with the program, naming Paul LeSueur, photo above left, as Big Brother of the Year and Carol Drury, photo above right, as Big Sister of the Year. LeSueur's "little" is Bradley and Drury's is Joelle. The process to select these top volunteers begins with nominations and interviews with the families with whom the "bigs" work. Some of the criteria: length of service, number of successfully completed matches, impact on the child and agency participation. When the information is compiled it is submitted to the board for review, with the candidates remaining anonymous. The board then awards points, totals them and ranks the candidates. According to Ginger Sparks with BBBS, "It was very close this year, particularly for the BBOY, with only one point separating the three nominees."
