Elks Keep Thanksgiving Tradition Alive

The first Thanksgiving was a community celebration. Thanks to the Payson Elks, the tradition of a community feast continues with the 4th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at the Elks Lodge Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22.

The roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings is open to all area residents.

Free tickets are available at the Elks Lodge, the Payson and Pine libraries, the Payson and Pine Senior Centers, and the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce. Tickets specify seating times from noon to 1 p.m.; from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.; and from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Although there is no charge for dinner, donations will be gratefully accepted.

Dinners are also available for those who are homebound. To request a homebound delivery, please call Sally at (928) 474-4401 no later than Nov. 17. These meals will arrive at approximately 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Volunteers are welcome to help the Elks present this special meal.

Assistance is needed from 9:30 a.m. to noon; 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Call Becky at (928) 476-3678 if you can help.

Dinner for the volunteers will be served at 3 p.m.
