Jre Teacher Honored By State Education Office


Donna Moore, physical education specialist from Julia Randall Elementary School, was honored by the Arizona Department of Education at this year's 76th Annual Arizona Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AzAHPERD) Convention.

This year's convention was held at the Phoenix Airport Marriott Hotel with the theme of "STARS in our Programs and Professionals."


Angie DeMarco, president of AzAHPERD, and Breann Westmore, Arizona Department of Education, were on hand to honor Donna Moore from Julia Randall Elementary School.

Moore received this Recognition Award for her involvement at the state level of physical education.

Moore is a past president of AzAHPERD and currently serves as AzAHPERD's convention manager and Southwest district and AzAHPERD's Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart Coordinator.

Close to 500 physical educators from across Arizona and the United States attended this year's convention.

Following the convention, Moore received an invitation to be on this year's National Middle School Teacher of the Year Selection Committee in Fort Worth, Texas. She accepted the appointment and will travel to Ft. Worth in April to the National Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance Convention where the committee will select the Teacher of the Year from candidates from throughout the United States.
