Moose Mountain Makes Holiday Shopping Fun

If you want to have as much fun shopping for holiday treasures as the recipients will have receiving them, then plan a visit to Moose Mountain. The shop is packed to the rafters with wonderful gifts in all shapes, sizes and prices.

Moose Mountain Gifts & Moose Mart Antiques are located at 6264 Hardscrabble Road in Pine.

Make Christmas shopping a treat with a visit to Moose Mountain Mart and Moose Mountain Antiques in Pine.

"I feel there is something here for everybody," said owner Kris Lovetro. She considers the wonderful array of gifts, antiques and collectibles "Pine Country accents."

"Whether you're decorating your cabin or looking for the perfect gift, I think you can find it here."

Now, about Christmas. If there is a decorated tree you see, you can ask about buying the whole thing, ornaments and all, or you can pick and choose from a dizzying array, from beautiful Victorian-style pieces to mountain and wildlife motifs.

"We also carry Hearth and Home cake candles, McCalls country candles, Chestnut Hill and Salt City candles," she said.

The are "moosetivity" and "beartivity" collectibles (the Nativity scene featuring moose and bears); "Serenity" angels that can be used as jewelry or ornaments with special sentiments inscribed on each one; beautiful greeting cards for both the holidays and all occasions.

"We have a good selection of Pine Country Santas and snowmen, as well as ornaments," Lovetro said.

Smores Christmas tree ornaments are also available.

Moose Mountain is the Rim area distributor for Big Sky Carvers, suppliers of the popular Bear Foots and Moose collectibles.

This year Moose Mountain has added Enesco's line "Heartwood Creek" by Jim Shore. There are Santas, angels, snowmen, ornaments and themed pieces.

"We have the largest selection in Rim Country," Lovetro said.

The shop has a variety of dealers displaying their specialties for sale. "We have one dealer who specializes in good, used furniture pieces at fair prices."

Different dealers contribute to Moose Mountain's Vintage Linen Closet. Noted area vendors Sherri Gray and Tracy de Costa also have works for sale at the shop.

Gray owns "The Cottage" at Moose Mountain -- the antiques part of the business, with pieces that will appeal to fans of the shabby chic and mountain country look.

De Costa sells "American Made" products.

Lovetro and Moose Mountain will celebrate 10 years of business in March.

"Business is better than it has ever been and the dealers are the best I've ever had," Lovetro said.

"I wanted the shop to be a place where people could come in the front door and be called by their first names, get decorating ideas and visit," she said.

Helping Lovetro run the store are Jo Brewer, Sherri Gray and Linda Bonnewell.

"They are the best employees I've ever had," Lovetro said.

Her mother is not in the shop as often as she used to be, Lovetro said, but she still loves to check on the staff.

There will be specials throughout December, so maybe two or three trips to Moose Mountain should be on your shopping schedule.

Moose Mountain is open daily, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (928) 476-3044.
