An eight-vehicle pileup, coming after a semi-truck jackknifed, closed southbound lanes of Highway 87 near the Globe turnoff this morning, Friday Nov. 30.
Southbound lanes of Highway 87 will be closed today until mid-afternoon, a duty officer with DPS said.
He said the tractor-trailer rig jackknifed near the Highway 188 turnoff at milepost marker 205 early this morning.
"We got a call at about 6:40 telling us about the accident, and that the southbound lanes of Highway 87 would be closed for about six to eight hours," the duty officer said.
Northbound lanes of Highway 87 are open, and southbound lanes should re-open between one and three this afternoon, he said.
The duty officer said no one was injured in any of the accidents.
He said the cause is not yet official, but was likely due to slippery road conditions from morning rains.
