An architectural firm will soon saddle up in the process of renovating the Payson Event Center.
The Payson Event Center Technical Advisory Committee comprised of 14 volunteers and members of town staff, heard presentations from the top two architectural groups who applied for the task of renovating the event center.
Both firms who presented to the advisory committee on Tuesday -- the J2 Engineering Group and Cleland Consulting Group -- are based out of Phoenix.
After tallying comment cards submitted by PECTAC members after each of the presentations and considering input from the architect selection committee, Manchester said the group decided to recommend to the council that negotiations be discussed with the Cleland Group.
Manchester said it was the firm's "unique perspective on public input and experience with equestrian-type projects" that appeared to garner the support of the PECTAC members.
"They brought in a qualified architect for equestrian-type facilities," he said. "They also have a lot of background in this type of project." The decision will come before the Payson Council for approval, at its next meeting on Dec. 13 before fee negotiations and possible contracts will be entered into with Cleland, Manchester said.
