Star Valley To Participate In Holiday Lighting Contest

The Star Valley night sky may be lit up a little brighter this holiday season.

The town will take part in the third annual holiday lighting contest for the first time this year.

The three most festively decorated houses will earn prize money. A $500 first-place prize, $300 second-place prize and $200 third-place prize will be awarded, thanks to a donation from the town, along with sponsorship from other entities.

Contestants must live within Star Valley town limits to participate.

A representative from each group sponsoring the event will judge the houses. Winners will be announced the week of Dec. 17.

The contest is sponsored by the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, APS, and the Payson Roundup. The contest is free to enter.

To be eligible to participate, contestants must submit an application by Wednesday, Dec. 12 at noon. Contest applications are available inside the Payson Roundup, at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce and APS. Applications can be returned to those locations.

The Town of Payson will hold a similar contest and winners will be awarded separately from the Town of Star Valley.

Call the Payson Parks and Recreation office at (928) 474-5242, ext. 7 for more information.
