Payson Cowboys And Cowgirls Win Prizes At Junior Rodeo


Eleven participants from Payson tore it up at the Junior Rodeo last weekend in Queen Creek.

More than 175 kids, ranging in age from 3 to 13 years old rode hard and took home prizes and winning times.


Bryndee Hall won the Pee-Wee All Around Cowgirl at the Queen Creek junior Rodeo Saturday and her sister Brylee Hall, on the right, won the Junior Girls All Around Cowgirl title.

The participants came from schools all over Arizona and competed for recognition, prizes and best times.

Payson participants included, Bryndee Hall, 7, Makiah Taylor, 6, Brylee Hall, 9, Kara Ward, 8, Monty James, 9, Jayme Chilson, 10, Jesse James, 13, Lexi Ward, 4, Emily Daniels, 5. Hannah Jo Tommerlin, 6, and 12-year-old Emma Randall.

Bryndee Hall won Pee-Wee All Around Cowgirl with four first-place wins Sunday in barrel racing, pole bending and dummy roping, and the flag race and fourth in the goat-tail pull. She also took second place Saturday in the flag race.

Taylor took fourth place Sunday in pee-wee girls pole bending.

Junior Girls All Around Cowgirl went to Brylee Hall.

Ward, James and Chilson took home wins Sunday in barrel racing; Kara Ward won second place, Chilson won fifth and James went home with sixth place.

James also placed first in girls barrel racing and fourth in girls breakaway roping Saturday.
