Identification Of Highway Worker, Struck And Killed On Beeline Tuesday, Is Released


Maria De Losangeles, 48, a contract employee for the Arizona Department of Transportation, was removing trash and debris from the highway next to the high-speed lane when she was struck and killed.

DPS said that at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, they received numerous 911 calls reporting a serious collision on Highway 87 near milepost 184, just south of Fountain Hills.

Upon arrival, officers found De Losangeles in the roadway and closed the northbound number one lane from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. to conduct an investigation.

De Losangeles was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges are expected to be filed in the case, DPS said.

DPS is not releasing the name of the woman driving the vehicle that struck De Losangeles.
