A Hospice volunteer is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team that contributes to the overall care and support of a terminally ill person and their family.
A 30-hour comprehensive volunteer education course, given by RTA Hospice and outside professionals, will begin Oct. 22. During this training, volunteers will gain a clear understanding of the hospice philosophy and their role as a volunteer.
You must be 18 years of age or older. We also ask that you have not experienced a death of someone close to you within the past year.
Hospice volunteering may consist of patient and family companionship, running errands, transport to doctors' appointments, shopping, etc. There are also office and clerical opportunities.
Training will be held in the RTA Conference Room, 511 S. Mud Springs Road, Oct. 22 through Nov. 1 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Seating is limited. Deadline to enroll is noon, Thursday, Oct. 18.
