Smoke Caused From Prescribed Burns North Of Payson

Payson Ranger District fire personnel will continue a two-day prescribed burn north of Payson today.

The burn began yesterday morning, Monday, and will focus on 90 acres of ponderosa pine debris piles in the Verde Glen area.

The piles were formed after thinning operations last year, according to a release from the Payson Ranger District.

Smoke can be expected on the horizon today, Tuesday, and into the week. The smoke is expected to be minimal to moderate, however.

The burn will only be conducted if ideal conditions, including temperature, humidity, fuel moisture content and wind speed and direction are met.
