The Good Samaritan Society Celebrates 85 Years Of Service

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society marks an important milestone this year as it celebrates 85 years of providing care and services to the elderly and other people in need.

The Society, founded by the Rev. August "Dad" Hoeger, was incorporated on Sept. 29, 1922, and opened its first home, a six-room rented house, on March 1, 1923, in Arthur, N.D.

Over the years, the Society has grown from serving a handful of residents to being the nation's largest not-for-profit provider of senior care and services. It has broadened the scope of its services to include senior living apartments, twin homes, home health care including telehealth, assisted living centers, hospice care, child day care and specialized units for people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia.

Good Samaritan Society- Majestic Rim is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and offers one and two bedroom apartments designed for active seniors during their retirement years.

The Society is a Christian not-for-profit organization that owns and operates more than 240 long-term health care centers and retirement living centers.

Its mission is to share God's love in word and deed, by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need. For more information, contact: Stacey Zimmerman Housing Manager, Majestic Rim, 310 E Tyler Parkway, Payson, AZ 85541 or call 474-3912.
