Merchants Guild Lends Support To Jail Proposal

The Main Street Merchants Guild and the Town's Green Valley Redevelopment/Main Street Committee (GVRA) have passed motions unanimously supporting the Gila County plan for an expanded Justice and Administrative Center on Main Street in Payson.

A press release said these actions follow the recommendations of the Gila County Facilities Planning Citizens Advisory Committee, which voted 11-1 for the design, financing and placement of the center. The broad-based advisory committee comprised of citizens from all areas of the county, spent three months studying the numerous issues, before arriving at their nearly unanimous decision.

The Green Valley Committee has, for more than 10 years, had in its vision the expansion of the County facilities within its area of jurisdiction. Bringing together the county functions into one central location and having a beautiful structure that meets Main Street design guidelines will be a tremendous asset to the area, the community and northern Arizona, according to Dick Wolfe, longtime Chairman of the GVRA Committee.
