Gila Community College Senior Dean Margo Bracamonte will retire from her position, effective Dec. 31.
Bracamonte's career spans 30 years.
She started her career in 1974 as the manager of the bookstore with Eastern Arizona College and earned her way to the top leadership role of the college in 2000.
With the reorganization of Gila Community College in 2005, Bracamonte was asked to return and lead the effort of building both academic and work force development programs and increasing enrollment.
Gila Community College District Governing Board Chairman, Robert Ashford said, "Margo Bracamonte is recognized in Gila County as the consummate professional who has remained student-centered throughout her career. To be an administrator for 30 years is unheard of in this day and age and it speaks volumes for her integrity and professionalism. She has fulfilled the position of senior dean with great distinction and has enhanced the stature of the college."
Since returning as the Senior Dean of Gila Community College, the college has established a number of relevant programs including the Registered Nursing and Fire Science Programs.
Bracamonte has also been actively involved in assisting the college to address issues at the state legislature.
When asked about her plans, Bracamonte said, "I plan to spend time with family and loved ones.
"The college has been a big part of my life for the past 30 years; I hope to continue to assist the college in any way possible. I have many friends and colleagues that I will remain in contact with."
