Visit artists' studios in 7th annual ' Neath the Rim Tour

Mark your calendar for the Payson Art League's Seventh Annual 'Neath the Rim Spring Juried Artists Studios Tour, May 2, 3 and 4.

Enjoy mountain views along with fine art and fine crafts as you tour 17 artists' personal studios.

Twenty-eight Payson area artists, representing various professional backgrounds from many places, will demonstrate and display their work.

Participants on the tour can expect to see paintings of several styles, hand weaving, hand-sculpted gemstone and metal jewelry, ceramic vessels, metal and bronze sculpture, stone carvings, stoneware pottery, batik, stained glass, painted gourds and drawings.

Free tickets and maps are available at the Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, corner of Highway 87 and Main Street; at the Payson Public Library, 328 N. McLane Road; and at all studios on the tour. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

A raffle for work from each artist on Sunday will benefit children's art education in the region.

Art Song performance

Operatic vocalist Wayne Nelson and organist Victoria Harris will present a concert of Art Song at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 20 at Gila Community College, 201 N. Mud Springs Road in Payson. Admission is free.

The performance will feature songs by Franz Schubert. It will also include Verdi's "La Donna e mobile" and songs in English, and end with Irish songs, including "Danny Boy."
