Optimist Fishing Fest

The Rim Country Optimist Club, in conjunction with Payson Parks and Recreation and the Arizona Game and Fish Department, are sponsoring the Second Annual Fishing Festival at Green Valley Park all day on April 12.

There will be free fishing for all children, ages 14 years and younger, as well as adults who sign up at the Game and Fish booth.

No pole, hook or line needed, Rim Country youngsters just have to come out and have fun fishing in Green Valley Park at the Optimist Fishing Fest on April 12.

All participants who register during the day are eligible for numerous door prizes that will be announced throughout the day.

The top three prizes will be a deluxe fishing float tube, a three-day, two-night stay at Kohl's Ranch, with the grand prizeeing a full-day of fishing on Roosevelt Lake for two with local bass fisherman, Tracy Purtee.

Numerous other fishingrizes will be awarded throughout the day to the lucky drawing winners. The first 300 participants to register will receive a free visor or fishing hat given by the Optimist Club.

It is not necessary to have fishing equipment because the Arizona Game and Fish Department will have an ample supply of loaner rods, and they will even provide free trout bait to all anglers.
