Walter Frank Clasen of Payson, Ariz., died March 22, 2008 at RTA Hospice, Payson. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio Dec. 1, 1911 to Frank William Clasen and Gertrude Senning Clasen. He was married to Ethel Thornton Clasen and spent most of his life in San Antonio, Texas, working as a bookkeeper for various companies.

Two years ago, after spending 58 years in San Antonio, the Clasens moved to Payson, Ariz. to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law.

Mr. Clasen loved the outdoors, fishing and his special joy was the time he spent at his cabin in the hill country of Texas. He was a full member of the Masons.

Mr. Clasen is survived by his wife, Ethel Clasen; daughter Louise Tjernagel and son-in-law, John Tjernagel; two grandchildren, Michelle Tjernagel of Fargo, N.D. and Amy Tjernagel Wriedt of Chaska, Minn.; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Gertrude Clasen.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas.
