Duarte, Alvarez Honored For Outstanding Service By Sheriff

Sheriff John R. Armer is proud to announce that Sgt. Christine Duarte has been selected as detention supervisor of the quarter, and Yvonne Alvarez has been selected as detention officer of the quarter for their outstanding performance and work ethic in the Gila County Detention Centers.

gt. Duarte began working with the Gila County Sheriff's Office as a detention officer in July of 2003 and was promoted to lead officer in November of 2004.

In April of 2005 she was promoted to the rank of corporal, and then in November of 2005 she was promoted for the third time to the rank of sergeant -- the position she currently still holds.

Also, on March 18, Sgt. Duarte was selected as officer of the year by the Gila County Attorney's Office for the fourth quarter of 2007.

Officer Yvonne Alvarez began working as a detention officer in the Payson Jail facility in March of 2007 and was selected and recognized by her peers for doing an outstanding job. Alvarez was chosen as the detention officer of the quarter from both the Payson and Globe jail facilities.
