The second annual Blessing of the Bikes (motorcycles) for the greater Payson area will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 3.
The event is sponsored by Riders of the Purple Sage, a motorcycle ministry of Payson United Methodist Church, 414 N. Easy St. in Payson (behind Ace Hardware).
The primary purpose for this event iso giveiders throughout our community an opportunity to fellowship with each other and to receive a blessing on themselves and their motorcycle.
All riders who value a spiritual connection with a higher power are welcome to this event, regardless of church affiliations they may have and regardless of what brand of motorcycle they ride!
Its also our goal to let the general public know that many negative stereotypes about motorcyclists are simply not true of all riders.
They will gather at 10 a.m. on May 3 in the Payson United Methodist Church main parking lot. The blessing will include music, scripture, prayer and a personal blessing from Rev. David Rennick.
Themes for the event will include:
- The freedom experienced while riding;
- Connecting with nature and creation;
- Safety while riding; and
- Remembering riders whoave passed away.
fter the blessing we will be escorted through Payson by the Payson Police Department and ride east on Highway 260 to a look-out on the Mogollon Rim for a final prayer. Riders are then welcome to keep riding east on Highway 260 together, or return to Payson.
