AARP and the Payson Parks and Recreation Department will host a 10-week walking program beginning Tuesday, April 29.
The free program is part of a broader AARP goal to help prevent illness and keep people healthy through positive changes to personal behaviors, like exercise and diet.
Those 50 and older are invited to register for the walking program at a kick-off event from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 29 at Green Valley Park at the parks office, located at 1000 W. Country Club.
At the kick-off event, AARP and Payson parks officials will help participants locate safe places to walk and provide tools and support to assist them in taking personal responsibility for their health and walking exercise plans.
Each participant will also receive a free step counter, walking-program guidebook, and be invited to sign up for a walking group and weekly educational sessions on fitness and nutrition.
