Applications are still being accepted for the 2008 Rim Country Business Awards.

The award categories are Small Business of the Year, Large Business of the Year and Businessperson of the Year. Presented by Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation and Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, the awards recognize outstanding accomplishments and community service of business in Rim Country.

It is especially important in the current economic climate to recognize local businesses and their valuable contributions to the Rim Country. PREDC and Rim Country Chamber have come together to show support, said John Stanton, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce manager.

"Join us by nominating an exceptional business or businessperson. Anyone may make a nomination. Self-nominations are encouraged," said Ken Volvs, executive director of Payson Regional Economic Development Corporation in a press release.

Application forms are available at APS, Rim Country Chamber, PostNet, PREDC and the Roundup; Rim Country Gazette; and at the Moose Mountain and Sunny Mountain Realty in Pine. Criteria for selection include community impact and involvement, innovation and customer service. Deadline for receipt of applications is extended to April 30.

Winners will be announced during a luncheon on May 29, at the Best Western Payson Inn. Show you support the business community by attending, the two groups said.

Tickets for the lunch prepared by Gerardo's Bistro are available for $25 or $175 for a table of eight. For more information, call PREDC at (928) 468-6659 or the chamber at (928) 474-4515.
