Perfect Weather! Fish were biting! Participants had Fun! What more can you ask for. The Optimist Club has many people to thank for making this an "All Community" second annual Optimist Club Kid's Fishing Festival.

First of all we thank those who joined the cooperative effort of planning and presenting the festival. This includes Mary McMullen, Parks and Recreation, Game and Fish, Tracey and Teresa Purtee and staff and students from Payson Community Christian School, Printing by George; Suzanne Michaels and Kit McGuire, KRIM; John Wisner; Brenda Baker; Artists of the Rim. Thanks go to those who gave donations to support the event, including Tawnya and John Allaire, Mike Amon, Chapman Auto, Mazatzal Casino, Gordon Metcalf, Printing by George, and Steve from Pepsi.

We appreciate our friends of the Optimist Club who helped with the event. Gary Parkinson and his son-in-law, Nick Honitios, who drove ATV carts which were used to make sure that the youth who caught fish, had their pictures taken. One of the carts was provided by Rye Creek Carriages. Our own Optimist member, Suzanne Michaels and Kit McGuire broadcasted all day from KRIM and announced all the raffle prizes and auction items. These pictures were taken courtesy of KRIM's Kit McGuire, who is also a professional photographer. People who helped in the food and raffle booths were Enzo Crivelli, Debbie, Everett, Billie and Jack Gibbs, Dick Brubacker, Dale Mewes and Curt Kroll.

Our silent auction was wonderful because of the generous donations from Appliance Plus, Designs by Audrey Holenbaugh, Marcia Buckpitt, artist, Tawnya and John Allaire, Isabel Meza, Pampered Chef, Arizona National Bank, Payson Concrete, and Chaparral Pines.

Artists of the Rim provided the Fishing Festival with their artwork for both the silent auction and the raffle. The following artists shared their talent to help us provide this event: Dick Wolfe, Brenda Baker, Carolee Jackson, Robert Barela, Carole and Alan Snyder, Conrad Capek and Bob and Glenda.

We also want to thank all those who contributed items for the raffles. The people or organizations that helped our raffle make quite a few people happy included: Haircut by Jen (Backstreet Salon), Breezees, Ray at Fletcher's on Hwy 260, Fargo's Steakhouse, Macky's Grill, Payson Dance Studio, Bashas', Bootleg Alley (adult and children's), KDJ's Beauty Mart-LANZA, Payson Roundup, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, Pizza Hut, DJ's Bed & Bath, Plant Fair, Legacy Home Furnishings, Fiesta Business Products, Safeway, Sawmill Theatre, Steve Salatti, McDonald's, Wal-Mart and Kutting Edge Salon.
