Tenth-Grader Is Hosa State Champ

Payson High School tenth grader Nicole Scott is the HOSA state champion in prepared speaking.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a national student organization with a chapter at Payson High School, sponsored by chemistry teacher Cynthia Pool and supported by Mogollon Health Alliance.

HOSA provides opportunities for students to acquire knowledge, skills and leadership development related to their health-related career interests.

Nicole Scott delivered her prepared talk on the theme: "HOSA ---- Where Dreams are Made and Futures Begin". The purpose of prepared speaking is to encourage health science students to improve their speaking skills and their ability to organize and present facts.

She will be traveling to the National HOSA convention in Dallas this June where she will represent all of Arizona and compete nationally.

Scott was also elected to a HOSA state office (vice-president) at the recent state HOSA conference.

She will represent HOSA at many state functions throughout Arizona next year, serving as an ambassador for PHS and the Payson community.
