The Payson Lions Club has been serving our community since 1963. We have provided many pairs of glasses and hearing aids for people; Lions Camp Tatiyee has given challenged youngsters and adults the fun of camping in the mountains at Pinetop; with help from the Lions Club International we made a contribution of $35,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
These activities and others were made possible through the enthusiasm and dedication of Lions and Lionesses through the years. We would like to call attention to two exceptional members of our club -- Bud Moran and George Assyd.
Bud joined the Payson Lions in 1984. His health has now prevented him from continuing his membership, but over the last 28 years, he served as president and various other offices. We could always count on Bud for thoughtful suggestions and diligent effort.
George was a Lion for many years in Superior, and joined our club after moving to Payson in 2000. He passed away on July 24 and will be remembered as one of the hardest-working members in every activity, and a great storyteller, who kept us laughing.
Our club wishes to salute these two members, who helped make Payson a better place to live, and are most thankful for their efforts, loyalty and friendship.
