The Watering Hole, formerly Mogollon Steak House in Strawberry, is under new ownership.
The restaurant, at 7783 W. Ralls Drive, originally opened as the Black Bear, then changed to the Mogollon Steak House and now goes by The Watering Hole.
Lynn Waters took over as new owner June 16. Besides the new name, Waters plans to spruce up the place and menu has already garnered positive response from the community.
"Business is crazy," Waters said. "We have been doing very, very well. We have had a fantastic response."
Waters changed pricing to be more reasonable, simplified the menu and added weekly specials.
"It has always been known as a steak house, so we are keeping our steaks and salad bar," Waters said.
Waters did add more lunch options for $6.99. Kids eat free on Sunday and there is a fish fry on Friday night and ribs Saturday night.
Besides changing the menu, Waters wants The Watering Hole to become a gathering place for residents and travelers.
"We want to make it fun for everyone," she said.
Local bands play on the weekends, there is dancing, a Wii console, pool tables and arcade games. More TVs will be added to the bar and Waters is working to change the rustic feel of the bar into a sports bar.
The Watering Hole is open seven days a week, Monday-Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and weekends 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free monthly trail rides starting at The Watering Hole will begin Aug. 31 and run the fourth Sunday of every month.
The rides start at 2 p.m. and are two hours long. They end with a cowboy dinner.
"All you have to do is bring your horse," Waters said.
