Food, games and entertainment will highlight Beaver Valley Day, Saturday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Beaver Valley, northeast of Payson on Houston Mesa Road.
The public is invited to join community members in the celebration, beginning with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Beaver Valley Fire Station.
Members of the Beaver Valley Fire District Auxiliary, a non-profit organization, will offer a pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverages breakfast.
During breakfast, a Firewise education program will be presented by Lee Ann Beery, a natural resource manager of the Arizona State Forestry Division. Free Firewise educational materials are available throughout the day.
Activities include: arts and crafts show, 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.; classic car exhibit; food and games for children; duck race on the East Verde River; horseshoe tournament; and silent auction.
Participants have a chance to win a $100 gas gift certificate.
The band, "Different Daze," will entertain those attending the Tri-tip BBQ and silent auction, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the annual event benefit Beaver Valley's volunteer Fire Department.
Beaver Valley is located 6.2 miles northeast of junction Highway 87 and Houston Mesa Rd. From Payson, go north on Highway 87, turn right on Houston Mesa Road., passing several communities. Turn left at the adobe wall with the "Beaver Valley" sign. Stay on Beaver Flat Road., which curves and leads to the meadow and fire station.
