Booster Group Selling Couch Seats At Football Games

A Payson gridiron tradition is being revived this season by the Friends And Neighbors (FAN) Club.

It involves a couch placed in the end zone where four lucky fans will have comfortable seats along with up-close and personal looks at all the action.

FAN Club member Eileen Daniels explains the promotion as one in which the booster group "will be selling tickets inside the east gate and the winner will be drawn at the beginning of each home game."

Of course, the winners have the couch seats for the game, Longhorn spirit supplies -- which they will be allowed to keep -- and $10 in credit toward purchases at the snack bar, which will be run this year by the band.

Tickets are $5 each or three for $15.

"All proceeds that are collected will be donated to the junior class to pay prom expenses," Daniels said.

Also on the FAN Club's 2008-2009 agenda is a 50/50 raffle to be held at all home football, volleyball and boys and girls basketball games.

The cost of the tickets will be $1 each or six for $5. The proceeds from the raffles will be used to purchase a scorer's table for Wilson Dome.

As important as the two fund-raisers are, Daniels is also hoping parents, students, teachers and fans "come out and support all our Longhorn activities."

She describes the FAN Club as a group of parents who support extracurricular activities in the entire district with fund-raisers.

"If you are interested in coming to our meetings, we hold them at 6:30 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Pioneer Title," Daniels said. "If you have a club in the schools and need help organizing or need fund-raising, you are also welcome to attend our meetings."

Already this year the FAN Club has hosted the Jack Morris Memorial Golf Tournament, a Mexican food benefit dinner for cross country and volleyball teams and dinners at the annual Payson Summer Football Camp.
