Who Can Resist A Hound Dog?

We have hounds at Payson Humane Society.

We have a hound of every color, size or mix.

There are a few wonderful things you should know about hounds. First and foremost is their great nature. They are just pure love machines. They are so easy going and so fun-loving that it's hard not to love a hound.

They get along so well with other dogs and fit seamlessly into a pack. They love to chase, so they are great partners for someone to play ball with.

They have easy-to-groom, short coats that require very little maintenance. They are affectionate and kind-hearted, so they are great companions.

And, of course, they are fun to hear. I've not seen anyone who can resist the humorous hoot of a happy hound. It just puts a smile on your face.

If you would like the chance to meet our beautiful hound dogs, please come and see them at 812 S. McLane Road. You can give us a call at (928) 474-5590 or look us up on the Web at www.paysonhumanesociety.com.

Why choose me? Here's why! My name is Jasmine, but all my friends call me Jazzie. I am part hound and pure love. I am 4 years old and ended up here because I was found as a stray. However, if you take me home, I will promise you my unfailing loyalty. I love to run and play, but since I have experienced motherhood, I have some level of maturity and good behavior that will only improve with your patience and training. I have been spayed and vaccinated, so just say the word and I will pack my bag today. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Lollipop and Tippey are both hound mixes that came to us from one owner. Lollipop was adopted here as a pup to be Tippey's pal. They are eager to please. They both love to play fetch, wrestle and play in the water. They were debarked by their previous owner and therefore, with proper training, could be a good, quiet addition to your family. If they can both be adopted together, you can get a two for one deal! What a great way to double your fun!

Joey is an 11-month-old Boxer/Hound mix. He's never met anyone he doesn't like -- people or dogs. He's always up for a great time, whether it's running and playing or snuggling up for a nap. If you're looking for a great companion for yourself or your dog, Joey is your boy.

Copper is an 11-month-old, sweet hound mix. His beautiful, short copper coat will be easily kept and will require little grooming. He enjoys playing ball and running and wrestling with other dogs. He knows a few basic commands such as "sit" and "stay" and is eager to learn more. If you're looking for a light-hearted fun-loving friend, Copper may be the perfect dog for you.

Sassy was picked up, along with her sister Smiley, Aug. 13 in the Ft. McDonald Road area. She is a 12-week-old female terrier/hound mix who has been spayed and is up to date with all her vaccinations. Sassy has a very sweet disposition and is a well-behaved young lady. She already walks fairly well on a leash. She is an especially beautiful pup; one look into her mesmerizing eyes and you will not be able to resist her. Sassy has received a clean bill of health and is ready to be your companion and friend.

My name is Smiley and my personality matches my name! I was picked up Aug. 13 on Ft. McDonald Road with my sis, Sassy. I am a 12-week-old terrier/hound female and full of life. I would love to go for walks every day and you can even come with me. I am already learning to walk well on a leash so I know I will respond to your loving training. Recently, I met a little 2-year-old girl at the shelter and I was nice -- didn't jump on her or nuthin, so I think I like kids. I am spayed, vaccinated and ready to go when you get here, so please hurry!

Pet calendar deadline soon

The deadline is getting close for wrapping up the 2009 pet calendar, so if you want your pet's photo to be included, call us. If you know someone with an animal that is being entered into the county fair, let them know about the calendar. What a great way to show off a winner. Remember, it doesn't have to be just dogs and cats. We love all the creatures and would love to have them showcased in next year's calendar.
