Brianne DeWitte

Name : Brianne DeWitte

School and subjects taught: Frontier Elementary Second Grade

College degree and major: Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from NAU, graduated summa cum laude, May 2005.

Years teaching: Seven

Why do you teach? It’s my passion and the best job in the world. I was blessed to have so many wonderful teachers in my life, I couldn’t help but want to be like them.

Personal motto/words of wisdom: Ephesians 6:10, James 1:19, Philippians 4:4-8.

Family: Fabulous husband Shawn, beautiful daughter Tiana (13), and awesome son Luke (11).

Pet peeve: The phrase  “I can’t.”

Favorite hobby or leisure activity: I can’t pick just one — horseback riding, reading, hwa rang do, shin ken do (martial arts), learning and being with my family.

Person in history you’d most like to meet and why: Jesus’ mother, Mary. I would love to hear what it was like to be Jesus’ mother.

Why Payson? I want my children to be able to experience some of the magical places I did growing up in the area, to be close to family, and because it is a great place to raise a family.

In school, who was your favorite teacher and why: My sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Williams. He was an inspiring and amazing educator. He taught me to believe in myself, to place trust in others, and that sometimes taking chances leads to great places. I also fondly remember the hikes and caving adventures he led us on.

What was your favorite subject in school and why? I loved every class where I could read a book of my choice when I was done with my work.

What was your favorite year in school and why? Third-grade, because my teacher Ms. Lorenz made learning fun. She also planted a deep love for literature in my heart while reading “Charlotte’s Web.” Hearing her read the story brought the characters to life for me, I loved the feeling of having a story wrap itself around me. I’ve loved reading ever since (Thank you Ms. Lorenz!)
