Robert L. Emery, 74, of Payson, companion of Bee Baxter, also of Payson, died Nov. 28, 2008 in Payson. He was born in West Reading, Pa. to Edna Mae (Fick) and Edward H. Emery, Sr.

Mr. Emery was in the Air Force from 1957 to 1961. After his discharge, he worked in the insurance, real estate, appraisal and auctioneering businesses for many years in the Pottstown, Pa. area.

More recently, he drove tour buses for several tour companies, and prior to his retirement, drove a school bus for the Paradise Valley Unified School District.

He attended Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church in Payson. He was a member of Stitcher Lodge #254, F&AM, Pottstown, Pa., and a member of the Elks in both Pennsylvania and Arizona. After his retirement, he was active with the Elks in Payson and also volunteered at the Payson Senior Center.

He enjoyed playing the drums in a Masonic band during his years in Pennsylvania and more recently enjoyed reading, playing cards and especially dancing.

He is survived by two daughters, Shannon (Daniel) Young of Phoenix and Bobbi Emery, also of Phoenix; two sisters, Janet English of Douglassville, Pa. and Margaret Yoder of Reading, Pa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13 at Shepherd of the Pines Lutheran Church, 507 W. Wade Lane in Payson. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In addition, a celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2009 in Pennsylvania.
