Christmas parties galore! My husband and I have been invited to join in the holiday cheer at six different celebrations this month.
The party held by the Domino Divas was very well attended last Wednesday afternoon at the Hellsgate fire station in Tonto Village.
The gifts were handed around a few times, but on the whole, what the gals picked out, they were satisfied to keep.
Fireflies president, Nancy Yoakum, was due for gall bladder surgery the next day in the Valley. Nancy is now home recuperating. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
A few of the Fireflies got together at past president of the Fireflies, Linda Stailey’s home, to make green corn tamales this week.
Linda has commercial equipment, which came in handy to mix the masa. Altogether, about 10 dozen tamales were made. The gals did really well at making the green corn tamales, so meat tamales will be next.
More Christmas parties!
There are two Christmas parties on Saturday, Dec. 20.
The Tonto Village Chapel will sponsor a family Christmas celebration at the chapel beginning at 4 p.m. There will be singers on a flatbed trailer for caroling to everyone in the village. There will also be singing at the chapel along with a Mexican-themed potluck dinner. Everyone in the surrounding area is invited to join in the celebration.
That same day, the Hellsgate Christmas party for all firefighters and their spouses will be held at the Lamplighter community building in Star Valley. The dress is semi-formal and festivities get under way at 6 p.m. Please bring a gift to exchange and canned goods for the St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank.
The next day, Sunday, Dec. 21, the Double D will host the annual community potluck Christmas get-together.
The event is usually very well attended by the residents of the village and the surrounding area. Just bring a dish to share and enjoy talking with your neighbors.
The nine-ball gals from the village and Christopher Creek got together this past Tuesday evening. The winners were Ethel Cain, Margaret Stasney and Judy Tolle from Christopher Creek. There was no Sunday tournament, due to a lack of players.
Hey guys, this is your chance to get in there and play some competition eight-ball. Chalk up those cue sticks and be at the ‘D’ on Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m.
Lots of snow
Tonto Village has received about 4 inches of snow, so now is the time to remind everyone in the village not to park their vehicles on the street. The snowplow cannot get through to clear Johnson Boulevard.
The ordinance about not parking in the street is posted throughout the village. Please abide by this ordinance, we need the streets cleared for emergency equipment. The situation could become serious if the fire department has an emergency and is blocked by snow and vehicles.
