Wow! I’m amazed at the article written by Ray Pugel, “Is Payson too gray?” I’m amazed because it is creating yet another prejudice against senior citizens.
If it weren’t for L’Oreal, I’d be a gray, too!
My husband and I own and operate Juniper Roost Park Model Village. We make it a point to do all our major purchases right here in Payson for the park. Further, we’re building a new home and, again, Home Depot, Legacy Furniture, Walmart, and the Galleria are the recipients of our purchases — because we want to keep money in our community.
Then, too, consider the army of people that set the standard for community volunteerism, who, more often than not, are gray.
We know in this economic downturn, with gas prices having been higher than we’ve ever seen them, with the lack of traffic coming up from the Valley, and with folks generally tightening their belts — that revenues are down all over the country. What good purpose is there in singling out senior citizens? We have the time, the energy and the good sense to bridge the economic gap in many ways.
We are a great resource for any community.
