Ashford Selected To Arizona Community College Council

Robert Ashford, President of the Gila Community College Governing Board, has been selected to serve on the newly created Arizona Community College Council.

All community colleges are represented on the council that was created through executive order by Gov. Napolitano in September.

Ashford said, “I am very pleased to be selected to the council as it will provide a forum through which the state’s community college districts will be able to regularly coordinate their efforts to meet state education and workforce goals.

“The council gives us a united voice at the state legislature and fosters collaboration with other education entities in the state and with the business community to prepare students for college and the workforce.

“Participation on the Council also means that Gila Community College is being recognized by other colleges throughout the state.”

Ashford will serve with other ranking officials from the other 10 state community college districts in addition to Dine College and Tohono O’odham Community College. Ashford has served on the Gila Community College Governing Board since its inception in 2002.
