Adult, Youth Town Volleyball Contests Start

While most working men are kicking back in the recliner watching their favorite evening television programs, Joe Harris is spending the hours overseeing adult volleyball and youth basketball league games.

Among the Town of Payson Parks and Recreation athletic coordinator responsibilities is to see the fifth- and sixth-grade basketball league -- which began Jan. 11 and will wrap up Feb. 16 -- goes off without a hitch.

In adult volleyball, Harris serves as director of three tournaments -- men, women's competitive and women's recreational.

In the men's league, Ludtke Builders, Payson Eye Care and Chapman Auto Care are battling for top honors. The championship game will be played at 8:30 pm. Feb. 5. Should an "if" game be needed, it will be played immediately afterwards.

In the women's competitive division, Big O, Cha Ching, H&H Paving, Old Hits and Serves You Right are in the title chase. The championship game is set for 8:30 p.m. Feb. 7.

Bashas', GQ builders, Off the Wall, PRMC and Skyline Tree Service will lock horns in the women's rec league.

The gold medal finale is on the schedule for 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6.
