The Rim Country Water (RCW) group held a meeting in Pine on Saturday, January 19 to present their projected financial analysis of the condemnation and purchase of the Pine and Strawberry Water Companies.
Although, I find their financial analysis unrealistically low, it still involves an approximate $5 million expenditure.
The RCW group has been extremely critical of the PSWID elected board for not listening to the wishes of the people of the district when approving the $300,000 K2 well agreement with Pine Water Co. And yet the RCW group is proposing financing the $5,000,000 needed to purchase the water companies without a bond issue vote by the citizens.
They propose to finance this expenditure through bank loans to be repaid by water users' rate increases.
They know if a bond issue vote was put to the property owners, it would be soundly defeated since the vast majority of Pine and Strawberry property owners have absolutely no interest in owning a water company or taking on that level of debt. What is going on here?
This is not only not listening to the people, it is not even giving the people the opportunity to speak.
If you find this situation intolerable, please let your voice be heard by writing to our County Supervisor, Tommie Cline Martin and the Arizona Corporation Commission. Addresses can be found at the following very informative Web site: http://www. waterforpinestrawberry.com.
