Both the Payson High School boys and girls basketball teams capped banner 2007-2008 seasons with Saturday evening victories over longtime East rival Snowflake.
In Wilson Dome on parents' night, the girls caged the Lobos 54-41. The boys ran past the visitors from the White Mountains 63-50.
For coach Kenny Hayes' Longhorns, the win improved the team's East record to 10-0 (20-6 overall) and propelled PHS into a No. 1 seed in the regional tournament which begins Feb. 8 in Eagar-Springerville.
The Lady Horns triumph extended a five-game late season winning streak that began Jan. 22 with a victory over Show Low. With the win, Payson is 7-3 in the East and 21-6 overall.
The Lady Horns will also advance to the regional tournament in Springerville-Eagar, but a coin-flip will possibly be needed to determine seeds because of ties in the final standings. Round Valley also finished the season at 7-3 in the East region.
