Motorists traveling on Highway 87 this weekend will have delays as crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation repair damage to embankments outside Rye from recent rains and snow.
Traffic in both northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 87 will be restricted to one lane of travel until Sunday, Feb. 12.
An embankment and wall between milepost 224 and milepost 226 on Highway 87 failed, spilling into the north and south lanes of traffic.
Concrete barriers have been put up as a temporary fix, but starting Saturday, Feb.8, ADOT crews begin drilling test holes to determine soil properties so permanent repairs can be made.
ADOT advises motorists to use caution when driving through the area and to be patient and expect delays.
