Payson police officers shot an allegedly suicidal woman, after the woman fired at officers several times Monday morning.
The Payson woman, who's name and age has not been released, was taken to a Valley hospital for treatment of her wounds, Payson Police officials said. Her condition was not known as of press time Tuesday morning.
Police officers responded to Granite Dells Road Monday morning and were fired upon by a woman, who appeared suicidal, police said.
The woman fired several shots at officers before they returned fire, hitting the woman an unknown number of times. The incident began at 9:21 a.m., Monday.
No officers were injured in the incident, which is currently under investigation by Payson Police and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, which was called in by Payson Police to assist in the investigation.
The investigation is continuing. Police will release more information as it becomes available.
