Well, the snow was just wonderful, the scenery was picture perfect, but do we have to have all the mud and potholes afterwards?
The streets in the village have numerous muddy and watery holes, so everyone should be very cautious, or the vehicles will be super muddy.
My advice; don't wash your car just yet!
My fat and sassy beagle has brought in muddy footprints and a wet coat every time she goes outside.
I am not complaining, the snow is melting slowly which allows the trees to soak up the moisture.
The creek is running, so be careful driving on the Control Road.
Melding of two fire district auxiliaries
Monday evening , Feb. 11, was the first time that the Tonto Village Fire Auxiliary and the Diamond Star Auxiliary met at a joint meeting.
The new name of Hellsgate Fire District will now apply to both auxiliaries.
Four members from each auxiliary were at the meeting at the Diamond Star Fire Station, along with other interested people who will be contributing either their time or facilities.
Discussion centered around the annual event sponsored by Diamond Star Auxiliary, known as the Spring Fling.
This year, Spring Fling will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 3 in conjunction with the Moose Lodge Breakfast that starts an hour earlier.
Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m. The menu will include eggs to order, toast, bacon or sausage and hash browns.
There will also be hot dogs, brats and hamburgers available throughout the event.
Vendors of all kinds will be on hand in the Moose parking lot.
If you would like to be a part of this fun event as a vendor, there is a charge of $25 for a space.
Contact either fire station #21 or #22 at (928) 478-4875 or (928) 474-3835.
Scotch Doubles at the Double D
Since the weather was not good for vehicles without four-wheel drive, the regular pool games were postponed.
However, in honor of St. Valentines Day, there will be a Scotch Doubles tournament on Friday, Feb. 15 starting at 6:30 p.m.
If you are like me, I did not know what Scotch doubles means, Ethel Cain explained that couples, or partners play against each other.
That sounds like fun, so come on out to the Double D on Feb. 15. Munchies will be provided.
Jerry and Kay King of Tonto Village III are the proud grandparents of a baby girl born on Sunday evening in Phoenix.
Bernice and Jim Barker of Star Valley became great-grandparents of a baby boy born to Terry and Jessie Clark of Payson on Monday night.
Congratulations to both families, you all have a brand-new reason to smile.
Virginia Rankhorn of Tonto Village I celebrated her birthday on Feb. 13. Virginia or ‘Ginny' as she is affectionately known, has lived in the village a long time and she doesn't know a stranger.
Clint Daniels of Tonto Village III has his big day on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, lucky guy. I bet that his wife Grace will make his day a special one.
On Feb. 16, Rick Meeker of Tonto Village II and our good fishing buddy will add another candle to his birthday cake. Tonto Village III resident, Audrey Shaw also shares that day for her birthday.
The secret of a happy life is to think kindly of the past and live fully in the now.
Happy birthday to everyone.
